COURSES & WORKSHOPS

Handpan workshops and introductory courses with an intuitive, self-taught approach.
  • Getting started with the instrument
  • Exploring sounds
  • Working on listening
  • Stabilizing tempo
  • Enjoying playing as a group
  • Discovering simple rhythms inspired by different world cultures
  • Learning to improvise
I can lead workshops and courses for beginners as well as for intermediate musicians.
I also offer workshops for children: musical awakening sessions to introduce them to the world of percussion and handpans.
I provide several Handpans tuned to the same key so we can play together and do group exercises.
I work in partnership with several French handpan makers who lend me instruments so you can experience different types of sounds and materials.
I’ll then guide you in choosing an instrument to purchase (which scale, key, number of notes, maker, etc.)

The Handpan is a modern instrument invented in 2000 in Switzerland, inspired by the Caribbean steel drum.

It’s a very harmonious and intuitive instrument, easy to enjoy from the very first session with no prior musical knowledge required.

I love meeting people who, like me, are passionate about world music and especially percussion and Handpans. People who are eager to learn how to play these instruments.

My Handpan maker partners

The Handpan, an acoustic instrument invented in 2000 in Switzerland by PANArt, is now crafted by many artisans around the world. Here are some of the maker partners I regularly work with, who lend instruments during my lessons and workshops:

  • Piris Instruments — French maker, friend and long-time partner.
  • Saraz Handpans — American maker known for the quality of their stainless steel instruments.
  • Ayasa Handpans — French maker based in Auvergne, smooth and harmonic instruments.
  • Handpan.world — international directory of makers and Handpan events.

If you’d like to start learning Handpan, I guide you in choosing your first instrument: musical scale, tonality (minor, major, melodic, exotic), number of notes (typically 8 to 10), materials (nitrided steel, stainless, ezir) and budget.
